Internships act as a vital link between academic learning and real-world application, giving emerging professionals the chance to put their knowledge into practice. In a dynamic work environment, they are more important than ever, offering students the practical experience needed to succeed in their chosen careers.
As we follow the journey of one of our standout PY interns, Jenna, we see the transformative impact internships can have. From tackling challenging projects to building meaningful professional relationships, these experiences provide an inside look at the workings of various industries. They equip interns with essential skills and the confidence needed to thrive in the professional world.

What led you to choose your PY internship over other opportunities?
College provides a solid academic foundation, but it doesn’t offer the same kind of real-world experience an internship can. The PY internship stood out to me because it offered immersive learning in a fast-paced environment. Being part of a women-owned agency was especially inspiring, and the energetic atmosphere of downtown St. Pete made it an exciting place to grow. The small PY team meant I got to wear a lot of hats and learn by doing, which made every day feel meaningful and engaging.
What did you learn in your PY internship that you took with you to your career?
The PY internship helped turn classroom concepts into real, applicable skills. It provided experience juggling multiple projects, staying organized under tight deadlines, and thinking creatively in a professional setting. It also highlighted the value of adaptability and collaboration—skills that have carried over into my career.
What were the benefits you found in interning for a small company?
Interning at a small company like PY meant being involved in a wide range of tasks and building experience more quickly. There was room to be creative, take initiative, and develop new skills that went beyond what I learned at the University of Florida (go Gators!). The environment made it easy to learn by doing and feel like part of the team from day one.
